Ever Forceful, Ever Graceful
Bukit Panjang Military Band has had a long and distinguished history. Our motto, ‘Ever Forceful, Ever Graceful’, expresses the values that we treasure in the Band — perseverance, discipline and commitment to each other and to our music in order to achieve the highest standards of excellence. Beginning as a combined band with Teck Whye Secondary School, we struck out on our own in 2003 and have since developed a strong culture of unity and character. In 2014, the Band broke free from its streak of Silver Award at the SYF Central Judging of Display Bands, one of the most prestigious and intense competitions in Singapore, and obtained a Certificate of Distinction at the SYF Arts Presentation (Display Band) with its show titled 'Miss Saigon - The Passion Within'. The Band continued it's achievement with yet another Certificate of Distinction in 2016, with its performance 'Night at the Museum - Shining in the Darkness'. Continuing its achievement with another Certifiicate of Distinction in 2018 with the performance entitled "THE SPY - James Bond "
The Band is one of the largest CCAs in BPGHS. Every student will belong to a section, headed by a Sectional Leader while the Band will be led by a Band Major and Drum Major. Most of the members did not have prior knowledge or any musical background. Members are taught the basics of music and their mastery of the instrument will be built thereafter. We strongly believe that everyone have hidden potential yet to be nurtured - be it in terms of musical abilities, leadership skills or creativeness.
Know our history
Bukit Panjang Military Band (BPMB) had its roots back at the old campus at Teck Whye, known as the Combined Band of Bukit Panjang Govt High School and Teck Whye Secondary School, or simply known as BT Band.
Under the guidance of Mr Gooi Boon Huat, BT Band participated in the Singapore Youth Festival for Marching Bands almost every season. BT Band was one of the top notch marching bands in Singapore, known for its precision in drills and dressings. The band won the prestigious gold medal award and the Mace of Honour in 1979 and 1983.
